The Gaza Series
This is a series about restoring dignity and hope to the Palestinian struggle. The aim is to challenge the narrative of the people and the land from victims to survivors. Using a sepia palette, Maha uses a range of values to build three dimensional forms within abstracted shapes from which long drips of paint emerge.
Maha develops her ideas as studies first on mid sized oil primed canvas paper to determine composition and strength of concept. She then reproduces these studies on life size canvases. She is also currently experimenting with sculpture to build on the series from two dimensional surface to three dimensional form.
By magnifying and bringing these concepts to life, Maha confronts her audience with a profound perspective intended to humanize all conflicts, all people around the world.
